R-449A
Air Conditioner Refrigerant R449ARefrigerant R-449A (commercially known as Opteon™ XP40) is a blended refrigerant in the hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) group with a low global warming potential (GWP). It was developed mainly to replace refrigerants R-404A and R-507.
Key Features and Benefits of R-449A:
- Composition: It is a zeotropic blend consisting of R-32, R-125, R-1234yf (HFO), and R-134a.
 - Low GWP: It has a GWP of approximately 1,397 (according to IPCC AR4/AR5), representing a significant reduction of about 64-67% compared to R-404A/R-507 (GWP approximately 3,922/3,985).
 - Ozone-Friendly: It has an ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) of zero.
 - Safety: Classified as safety group A1 (non-flammable and low toxicity) according to ASHRAE standards.
 - Performance:o Cooling capacity is similar to R-404A.o Energy efficiency is about 8-12% higher than R-404A in medium temperature applications.
 - Usage:
- For installation in new systemso Serves as the primary option for retrofitting existing refrigeration systems that use R-404A and R-507, without the need to change equipment or compressor oil (compatible with existing POE oil)o Suitable for commercial and industrial refrigeration systems at low and medium temperatures, such as supermarket display cases, cold rooms, and centralized rack refrigeration units

 - Caution: Since it is a zeotropic mixture (with a temperature glide of approximately 4 K), the refrigerant must be charged in the liquid phase only to ensure that the composition of the refrigerant added is accurate.
