R-454C
Air Conditioner Refrigerant R454CR-454C air conditioner refrigerant was developed as a long-term alternative refrigerant for systems that previously used R-404A and R-22 (and in some applications, R-507 and the R-407 series). It is a blended refrigerant mainly composed of R-1234yf (HFO) and R-32 (HFC), in approximately respective proportions.
Key Features:
- Global Warming Potential (GWP): Very low, approximately (which is below the threshold according to the European Union F-Gas regulations), making it a more environmentally friendly alternative to older refrigerants.
 - Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP): (No ozone depletion effect)
 - Safety Rating (ASHRAE Safety Classification): A2L, meaning low toxicity but slightly flammable (Mildly Flammable), requiring system design and installation according to safety standards for A2L refrigerants.
 - Lubricant Used: Generally uses POE (Polyolester).
 - Usage and Replacement: R-454C has been developed to serve as a long-term alternative refrigerant for systems that previously used R-404A and R-22 (and some applications that previously used R-507 and the R-407 series), particularly in commercial and industrial refrigeration systems with low to medium temperatures, such as:
- Refrigerators and cold storage rooms in supermarkets
 - Food storage refrigeration systems
 - Ice makers

 - Condensing unitsR-454C has performance levels close to those of R-404A and R-22, with slightly better energy efficiency (COP) than R-404A, and it can be used in equipment originally designed for R-404A or R-22 with only minor system modifications.
